| Guitar Building: D18V #1 | |
|
|
Mandolin building is hard. All those curves. Everything's so small and hard to get to. From what people have told me, a guitar should be much easier. Especially since upon opening the mahogany dreadnaught kit I ordered from Martin (http://www.mguitar.com/), it appears that all that's left to do is stick it together. I have a rosewood D28 and thought a mahogany brother might be a nice compliment. I am going to veer a little from the kit to make this one more like a D18V, primarily meaning that I'll shift the bracing forward and scallop it (if i can figure out what this means) and make some changes to appearance (tortoise binding, ebony fingerboard and bridge). I'll also add few of my own touches in the form of no position markers on the fretboard (you only use the ones on the side for the most part) and a custom inlay (I think). |
